The tall, wooden structure is the first line of defense against danger. A vigilant guard from the tower scanned the horizon for the enemy, ready to raise the alarm at any moment.

Towers of this type were an integral part of Roman military camps (castrum). The solid structure towered over the palisade, giving the legionaries a tactical advantage.

The set includes:

• Three realistic figures – a Roman legionary in full gear (pilum spear, scutum shield and galea helmet, gladius sword) and two Gallic warriors, armed with an axe, sword and shield, foreshadowing the coming danger.

• A diorama full of details – a tower and a section of a high, fortified palisade, elements of greenery, a barrel with supplies and a legionary standard with the Aquila eagle. Everything creates a cohesive scene made of building blocks, depicting life in a Roman camp. The entire structure is well-thought-out and designed so that the figures can be placed on the tower or the stairs leading to the defensive walls. Ladders practically connect the levels of the tower, further increasing the realism of the set.

Build your own Roman fort!

The watchtower is part of a modular set that you can combine with other elements of the Imperium Romanum series from COBI. Add two gates (#20077), another tower (#20076), and two legionary tents (#20078) to build a basic camp. Other configurations are also possible, e.g., four towers and four gates. Based on the instructions, you can also decide whether to build the right or left corner of the palisade to easily fit it into the rest of the structure of the camp (castrum) you have planned.

To create a realistic Roman fort, place the towers at the corners and the gates opposite each other. Connect these elements to recreate the historical, rectangular layout of the castrum. Place two sets with tents in the middle of the camp to complete the modular model.
