The Onager was a type of catapult of ancient origin. It was also widespread in the Middle Ages. The Romans previously called this machine tormentum or scorpion (scorpio). The catapult standing on two skids threw stone projectiles, burning charges and other objects (snakes, filth, severed heads, etc.) intended to sow terror in the enemy using a long arm with a "spoon".
In the block model, instead of tangled ropes, we used a rubber band to pull the arm! Thanks to this solution, you can quickly and safely start your own siege and throw block projectiles! The set includes a Roman legionnaire equipped with a helmet (galea), armor (lorica segmentata), shield (scutum) and javelin (pilum). A special block extending the tunic contains prints of hanging belts (baltea). You can place the catapult on the included block base imitating a fragment of terrain. We assure you that thanks to the clever mechanism, playing with the catapult will be lots of fun!
Are you short on personnel to operate the onager? Do you want to build a scene or diorama? Do you dream of a larger battlefield? Nothing could be easier! In the Imperium Romanum collection you will find figures of Roman legionnaires who are just waiting to be recruited to your victorious army! Build history, piece by piece, with COBI!
