Our company’s military products are replicas of historical models and we clearly distance ourselves from the glorification of war in any way. The models of historical vehicles, ships, airplanes and other subjects we create are made with the utmost dedication to accurate reproduction and attention to detail, and COBI does this in interest of helping to inspire generations of people to learn about history.

Few conflicts are as strongly associated with a particular era of military technology as the Vietnam War. Aircraft dominated the skies, while patrol boats moved through the rivers and waterway of Southeast Asia. COBI’s Vietnam War collection brings these very different machines together in brick form, from the compact MiG-17 to the unmistakable F-4C Phantom II and the Patrol Boat River Mk II. Each model has its own character, making the collection varied from the very first build.

From MiG-17 to F-4C Phantom II

The MiG-17 NATO Code “Fresco” is one of the more compact aircraft in the range. Its swept wings and simple, streamlined shape give it a distinctive look that is easy to recognize. The F-4C Phantom II takes a different approach. Larger and more imposing, with its twin-engine configuration and broad airframe, it has a presence that immediately stands out on the shelf.

The Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter sits somewhere between these two designs. It is a relatively small, streamlined fighter with clean lines and a shape that makes it particularly enjoyable to build. Put the three models next to one another and the differences become part of the fun - they look like products of completely different design philosophies, even though they belong to the same historical period.

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter

Then there is the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, an aircraft that is difficult to mistake for anything else. Its extremely slim fuselage and sharp wings give it an almost futuristic appearance. In a collection filled with military aircraft, the Starfighter brings perhaps the most unusual silhouette of them all.

Patrol Boat River Mk II

The Patrol Boat River Mk II changes the perspective completely. Instead of another aircraft, this model brings a river patrol craft into the collection. Its compact shape and different construction make it a natural contrast to the four aircraft and add some variety to a Vietnam War display.

Build your Vietnam War collection

The five models do not have to be treated as one uniform set. You can start with the machine that catches your eye and gradually add others, building a collection around the aircraft or vehicles you find most appealing. Displayed together, the different silhouettes create a varied scene inspired by the technology of the Vietnam War era - and give history enthusiasts plenty of details to discover. The finished models also make a great starting point for a display that can grow with every new addition to the collection.
