Every Roman camp was surrounded by a high palisade, trenches were dug, and its walls had four gates. The most important of these was the porta praetoria—the main gate.

It was through this gate that legionaries marched into battle, through which supplies and merchants arrived, but also… sometimes someone who wasn't who they claimed to be.

The gate with the merchant and guard is part of a modular set that can be combined with other elements from the IMPERIUM ROMANUM series from COBI to create a realistic, extensive Roman military camp (castrum).

The set perfectly complements the 4 guard towers (#20076), the second gate (#20077), two dioramas with legionnaire tents (#20078).

By placing the towers in the four corners and the two gates opposite each other, you'll create a square fort, consistent with the historical layout of a castrum. Inside, you can arrange the tent sets to create a complete garrison.
