A German heavy tank destroyer from the World War II era.

The Jagdtiger was developed based on a slightly modified chassis of the PzKpfw VI B Königstiger (Tiger II) heavy tank. It was the heaviest armored vehicle to see combat during the conflict and the last German tank destroyer to enter serial production.

The vehicle was armed with a powerful 12.8 cm PaK 44 anti-tank gun (128 mm caliber), capable of destroying enemy vehicles from distances of up to 4,000 meters. Such impressive armament, combined with extremely thick armor, led to the Jagdtiger often being referred to as a "self-propelled bunker."

Towards the end of the war, these vehicles were utilized, among other roles, to cover the retreat of German units seeking to surrender to American forces in order to avoid Soviet captivity.

Despite its immense firepower and armored protection, the Jagdtiger’s design suffered from numerous flaws. The most significant of these included very poor mobility—a consequence of its massive weight and an underpowered engine—as well as a high propensity for mechanical failure.

In practice, many units were lost not as a result of direct combat, but rather due to technical malfunctions or attacks by Allied aircraft. Now you can recreate this story by building your own diorama—featuring a unique model and figures—to depict a scene from the final weeks of the German defense leading up to the ultimate Allied victory in May 1945.
