Description
Build a model of the Vought F4U-4 Corsair - one of the most famous fighters in history!
The Vought F4U-4 Corsair is one of the most recognizable fighters of World War II, which gained recognition not only on the battlefields, but also among aviation enthusiasts.
The popular "Corsair" entered service in 1942. Its characteristic shape of broken wings and the cockpit moved backwards were the result of numerous modifications during the design and testing of prototypes.
These planes were in service not only during World War II, but also during the Korean War, where they were used to fight enemy fighters and as support planes for ground forces.
The standard armament included six 12.7mm Browning M2 machine guns and the ability to carry up to 800 kg of bombs or rockets. The aircraft could reach a maximum speed of about 650 km/h, making it one of the fastest fighters of its time.
The F4U-4 Corsair remains one of the most iconic aircraft, not only from the period of World War II, and is known for its exceptional power, range and ability to operate from short airports.
Build a model of your "Corsair"!
Build your own F4U-4 Corsair and travel back in time to some of the most important moments in the history of aviation!
The set consists of 520 elements that allow you to build a realistic model of the F4U-4 Corsair fighter aircraft. Made of high-quality blocks, the model reproduces the characteristic features of the aircraft, including folding wings (which allowed the aircraft to be stored on the deck of an aircraft carrier) and a shifted cockpit.
The blocks are covered with durable prints that do not wear off even during intensive use, and the clear and intuitive instructions will guide you step by step, making the entire construction simple and enjoyable.
Movable elements and functionality
The Vought F4U-4 Corsair model offers a number of movable elements that increase its attractiveness and realism. Folding wheels and wings, a rotating propeller and movable ailerons are just some of the elements that can be used to give the plane its full function. Additionally, the opening cockpit allows you to place a pilot figure in it, which allows for even greater personalization of the model.
Pilot figure enriched with an additional head!
The set also includes a figure of the famous pilot, Jesse L. Brown, whose life inspired a movie script. He was a war hero and the first African-American pilot to complete the basic flight training program of the United States Navy. The figure features historical military markings, and the interchangeable pilot head allows you to customize the character's appearance to your own preferences, e.g. in a helmet in the cockpit of the plane, without a helmet on a stand under the plane.
This is a detail that further enriches the possibility of presenting the model in various dioramas.
Life writes the best stories!
The Vought F4U-4 Corsair set from COBI is inspired by the actual plane, at the controls of which sat the heroic pilot Jesse L. Brown, one of the first African Americans to fly F4U Corsairs during the Korean War.
Thanks to the extraordinary history of the plane and pilot, historical prints and details, the model becomes not only a toy, but also a part of history that takes us to a time full of courage, sacrifice and extraordinary achievements.
The model, which pays tribute to this exceptional figure, not only reminds us of an important stage in the history of aviation but also inspires further discovery of historical curiosities.
Displaying the model
The set also includes a display stand on which you can place the built model to serve as an effective decoration. What's more, the set includes a white plate with the name of the model, which makes it easier to identify the plane and emphasizes the historical nature of the set.
The F4U-4 Corsair model from COBI is a great choice for both block modelers and enthusiasts of historical curiosities.
